Caulking

Caulking

Caulking is the process of sealing gaps and cracks around joints and seams to prevent air, water, dust, and insects from entering a structure. It is commonly used around windows, doors, bathtubs, sinks, and baseboards to improve insulation and maintain a clean, finished appearance. Caulk is typically applied using a caulking gun and comes in different types such as silicone, acrylic latex, and polyurethane, each suited for specific surfaces and conditions. Proper caulking helps reduce energy costs by sealing leaks and also prevents moisture damage that can lead to mold and rot. Regular inspection and reapplication are important, as caulk can deteriorate over time.
